It's a Monkey's Birthday!

This is what they say in Fiji when it's raining and the sun is shining. Why? Who knows?
Today was a Monkey's Birthday.

We had our second day on the farm today and it was very hot. We learned to shuck coconuts and make coconut oil and milk. As we were grinding the meat out of the coconuts, a woman at the farm informed us that the only things she has to buy for her family are salt, sugar, and soap. Everything else she can get from Fiji's wilderness... what they call "the bush."

We spent an evening last night playing with baby pigs and horses and running around with Fijian children. It is amazing what these kids can do. They scale down muddy hill sides with no shoes on and balance across skinny logs over rivers while carrying their siblings... We have a lot of catching up to do.

This afternoon we went to SavuSavu to buy water and cookies. We decided to check out the town and we ended up at the Yacht club where there are a couple restaurants and a dive shop where they give tours out of. In front of the dive shop there is a bulletin board where people post ads for boats and people who want to catch a ride on a yacht. Right after we saw this we met a couple from New Zealand who sailed their yacht to Fiji. It didn't take long for both of us to come up with the idea of placing an ad for a ride to New Zealand since that is our next stop. We will be placing the ad within the next couple of days so there will be an ample amount of time for some yacht sailing New Zealander to shoot us a message saying he wants us to be a part of his crew, or even better a drug smuggler who needs a couple extra hands unloading 20,000 pounds of marijuana.
